Being an altar server is a special ministry that allows young people to actively participate in the celebration of the Mass, assisting the priest and helping the liturgy to flow with reverence and dignity.
Altar servers are involved in all aspects of the Mass, carrying the cross and candles, preparing the altar, assisting with the missal and vessels, and supporting the priest during the liturgy. Serving at the altar is both a privilege and a responsibility, requiring commitment, attentiveness, and a spirit of prayer.

Anyone who has made their First Holy Communion is eligible to become an altar server. Servers are expected to commit to serving at least once a week, and to take part in occasional training sessions and special liturgies throughout the year.
After one year of faithful service, altar servers may be enrolled into the Guild of St Stephen, a national organisation that recognises their dedication to this important role. Enrolment includes receiving the Guild medal and a blessing, often during a special Mass.
If you are interested in becoming an altar server, please speak to one of the priests, the MC (Master of Ceremonies) at your usual Mass, or contact the Parish MC, Andrew Corriette.
